Mental Health Monday - 04.23.22

Let's face it - it's just too easy to deny the truth these days.

Every type of distraction and gratification is available 24/7 and they are at your fingertips at any moment.

Why should we worry about our mental health, when the ability to self medicate is so accessible?

Why should we get up off the couch and experience hardships by choice, when there are a million hours of programming to stream?

Why should we work on our relationships, and our goals, and our dreams, when it is just so simple to immerse ourselves in the lives of others, vicariously, through social media?

Why?

Because we know the truth. We know ourselves. We know our lies and our deceits, and our neuroticisms, and our fears, and our dreams, and our desires.

We know when we've given up, and we know what it's like to be given up on. We know disappointment, and rejection, and pain, and abandonment, and we know what keeps us from looking higher and reaching for more in our lives.

We know when we go off the track.

Sadly, there seems to be a dangerous acceptance of this low state, these days. It comes wrapped in compassion, but really it is dismissal. It's easy to relegate ourselves to some dustbin of expectation  due to our past traumas. It's easier than helping to foster a healthy and complete human being.

First though, we have to be honest. Honest with ourselves. Honest with those we love. Honest with God, and the universe and our place in all of it. Then, we can start healing.

Have a great week.

Much Love.
